Finding-NY-TMS-for-Bipolar-Depression- (1)

Dated a guy for over a year. Got engaged. Then he moved in with me. Did a road trip (Florida to Arkansas) meet his parents. They were wonderful and I felt welcomed & loved. Their son had excellent manners. However, something seemed “off". Before we left, his Mom and Dad pulled me aside to tell me that I was the woman who could handle their son. They let me know he was arrested in his youth for burning down a home and the judge ruled he go in the Navy. Since then he had been arrested for minor things. We made it home. My radar was off the chart. We were engaged, I knew I wanted out. When I told him, he attacked me. Pissed me off so I fought back. It shocked him & I continued my winning streak. Ended up at the front door near his very expensive stereo system. I had taken self-defense classes a decade earlier, it all came rushing back. I could kill him, blind him, continue fighting, or hit him with something. So I grabbed a piece of his stereo. He dropped to his knees crying and begging me not to hurt his stereo. I opened the front door, he crawled out. I turned on the security system & changed the locks immediately. Called the police. Part of my career was working with the severely emotionally disturbed. At the time, if in school, one could not be published for their handicapping condition. Out of the system they could if they broke the law. He had a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, which explained his behavior. It, however, did not excuse it. My therapist explained to me some folks can be nice until a commitment is made. There were so many other experiences with this guy. I was trying to keep this short.
