1. I could use a drink. 我需要喝一杯。

I could use … 字面是我可以用，其实是表示我需要。I could use a drink. 我需要喝一杯。I could use a nap. 我需要眯一会睡一觉。I could use a hug. 我需要拥抱。I could use some coffee. 我需要喝咖啡。

2. I didn’t see that coming. 我没想到会这样。

我没有预料到事情会这样。My blind date was actually blind.  I did not see that coming. 我的相亲对象竟然真的是盲人，这点我可真是没想到。

3. Beats me. 我不知道（重音在me上）

What’s is the longest river in the world? Beats me. 世界上最长的河是什么河？我不知道。Who is the smartest guy in the world？ Beats me. 谁是世界上最聪明的人，我也不知道啊。

4. You can’t make an omelette without breaking (some) eggs. 

如果你想做大事，你就难免得罪人。或者说类似于我们中午你的有得必有失。

5. It’s not really my thing. 我不喜欢/不擅长。

客户请吃饭，你不想去。你让同事跟你一起去，你说It’s not really my thing. Why don't you go ahead without me？我不喜欢去，要不你自己先去？ 或者你可以直接说…is not my thing. 比如School is really not my thing. 上学我确实不太擅长。再比如朋友让你修车，你说I’ll give it a try. But car repair is not really my thing. 我试试吧，但是我确实不太行这方面。
