When my son was about three or four we went grocery shopping. I was at a checkout where you bag your own groceries and I was worried that he would get away from me.
My son prided himself on being rather strong for his age. I called him over and asked him if he would do me a favor. There was a wall right behind where I was packing groceries and I told him that I thought the wall looked a little unsteady. I asked if he would maybe help by holding it up while I finished.
I was lucky that the request didn’t bother him a bit and he happily said “sure mom!” He leaned against the wall with his back and hands the whole time pressing against that wall the best he could.
When we were done I thanked him for the great job he did. He was very proud of himself.
The other women at the register thought the situation was hysterical. A genius way to keep him occupied! We still talk about it and laugh!
