A doctor once called my mother a potato chip, as she was headed into outpatient surgery! She had diabetes and congestive heart failure and had previously had a heart attack. She also had pretty severe blockage of at least one artery, but she was not a candidate for a stent or bypass because of her other health problems. When he called her a potato chip, he clarified that he meant that she was very fragile and that they had to be very careful during the day surgery so as to not do anything that would trigger a serious problem. So, they went light on the anesthesia, for instance. He was a good (and kind) doctor and my mother made it through the surgery just fine, and all was well.
